The Dimension X Cohort 8 open call runs from 5 to 30 October 2026. This guide answers the practical questions startups often need resolved before applying, particularly if they are based outside Singapore.

‍

For the complete programme overview and current Challenge Statements, visit the Dimension X programme page.

‍

Who is eligible to apply for Dimension X?

‍

Dimension X has no geographical or company-size restrictions. Deep-tech startups from any country, any technology domain, and across funding stages may apply.

‍

Your technology should generally be at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4–7. This means you need a working prototype, not just a concept — one that hasn't yet been tested in the intended public safety operational environment.

‍

You must also own the intellectual property behind the proposed solution or hold a valid license to use it.

‍

Does my technology need to be developed for public safety?

‍

No. Dimension X accepts technology from across industries if it can be adapted to address a public safety Challenge Statement.

‍

An existing or market-ready product may qualify if customisation is required. A purely off-the-shelf solution proposed without adaptation is not eligible.

‍

Before applying, map out what your technology already does versus what would need to change — and be honest about whether that's realistic within a four-month proof-of-concept (POC).

‍

Can I apply to more than one Challenge Statement?

‍

Yes. You can select more than one Challenge Statement in the same application form.

‍

Your submission should explain how the technology relates to each selected challenge. Do not assume that relevance to one statement automatically demonstrates relevance to another; make the fit clear for each operational problem.

‍

If your technology does not fit a published Challenge Statement directly, you may apply under the Out-of-the-Box Innovative Technologies category. If selected through this route, Hatch will match you with a related challenge owner to champion the proof-of-concept development.

‍

What if my technology does not fit a published Challenge Statement?

‍

Applicants may consider the “out-of-the-box innovative technologies” category.

‍

This route is intended for technology that may be relevant to public safety but does not map neatly onto a published Challenge Statement. If selected, we will match the startup with a challenge owner covering a related domain to champion the POC’s development.

‍

Selection through this category is not automatic simply because a technology is novel. The solution must still demonstrate credible public safety relevance.

‍

What happens after I submit my application?

‍

Applicants who are shortlisted will be contacted within two to three months of applying.

‍

The selection process then follows these stages:

  1. Invitation to pitch
  1. One round of online pitching to Hatch and Home Team challenge owners
  1. A one-to-one virtual meeting with the relevant challenge owner
  1. Submission of a final proposal
  1. Final decision by a panel of Hatch, Home Team challenge owners and relevant HTX experts

‍

What is the Dimension X Cohort 8 timeline?

‍

The planned DX8 schedule is:

  • Open call: 5 – 30 October 2026
  • Pitching: November 2026 – January 2027
  • Selection and POC planning: February - March 2027
  • In-person onboarding in Singapore: One week in March 2027
  • POC development: Four months, March – June 2027
  • On-site testing and Demo Day in Singapore: One week in July 2027

‍

These stages are explained in more detail in what happens after you apply to Dimension X.

‍

How are online pitches scheduled for international applicants?

‍

Sessions are scheduled individually with shortlisted applicants so the Hatch team can coordinate across global time zones.

‍

Applicants do not need to be based in Singapore during selection or throughout the entire POC development period.

‍

Will selected international startups need to travel to Singapore?

‍

Yes. Selected teams must make two separate one-week trips to Singapore:

  • The first is for onboarding and project scoping in March 2027.
  • The second is for on-site testing and Demo Day in July 2027.

‍

Most of this happens remotely, through ongoing check-ins between the startup and its challenge owner, with technical input from HTX as needed.

‍

Are travel costs funded separately?

‍

No. Selected startups receive S$100,000 prize money in non-equity, non-dilutive funding, but this amount is intended to cover both POC development costs and required travel arrangements.

‍

No additional travel allowance is disbursed. International applicants should account for both Singapore trips when planning.
